midweek melee
June 29, 2004 on 4:35 pm | In Happenings | No CommentsTime to scramble the codes like a monkey on a zither.
On the eve of the morrow we got a band of such fucking humongosity it’ll crack your spine like a bullwhip. And be sure to get a CDR of past experiments while you’re there.
June 30
Viroid Stew
with Dave Mueller on guitar and alto sax, Phil Martelli on electric bass, Joel Rhodes on keys (I believe he’ll be playing his namesake brand) and trumpet, Mike Eisenberg on drums, Neil Vendrick on computer samplin’/recodifyin’, John Randall Pelosi on tenor sax and maybe guitar and myself on alto sax, guitar, probably trombone and bass clarinet.
July 7 — Razor Wire Safety Net with undetermined guest, but i think we’ll ask Dustin Dorsey to play some guitar.
RWSN’s me, Christopher Thurston on basses, Brian Donohoe on drums.
July 14 — Distribution Pattern
Brent Bagwell (reeds) and Seth Nanaa (drums) of Eastern Seaboard will be joining. And probably a guitarist or two accompanying Brent from Charlotte.
July 21 — Razor Wire Safety Net with Mike Salmon
okay. See all of you on Wednesday. Every Wednesday. From now until the End of Time.
Festivities generally start around 10.

mid-week mayhem and other junk
June 22, 2004 on 4:40 pm | In Happenings | No CommentsHello, collection of dividuals. Honorary Hive Combine Tendrils.
On Saturday eve at old Bickett there will be a preformance of Earthworm, an improvised group including myselves and Isaac Trogdon and Ethan Clauset (both doing haywire computer hi-jinks) and Mark Lever on tuba, if he’s still in town, and not sure who yet on drums to replace the irreplaceable Reynolds Richter, who died of polio last week. Oh no, wait, he just went to Costa Rica, that’s all. Or ‘Costa’ as the surfers say. Costa.
And now, Mid-week Mayhem with the Crowmeat Cohort (those in attendance will find CDR recordings from previous Wednesdays and other similar projects. Take one for free, drop a 5 dollar donation for the current band if you feel guilty about it, which of course you should if you can afford it, but if you can’t afford it and really want one, don’t let it deter you. How’s that for passive-aggressive marketing?):
This week, June 23: Ezekiel Graves (of Cold Sides and Data Hata) will be joining Razor Wire Safety Net (Brian Donohoe, Christopher Thurston and myselves) on mainly guitar, I believe.
June 30: Viroid Stew
Dave Mueller on electroid guitar and altoid sax, Neil Vendrick on computeroid samples, Phil Martelli on electroid bass, Mike Eisenberg on percussoid set and myselves on varioid objects. No confirmation from Joel Rhodes, who might join on trumpetoid and electroid keys.
July 7: Razor Wire Safety Net (no guest yet)
July 14: Brent Bagwell and Seth Nanaa (both of Eastern Seaboard — http://www.theeasternseaboard.com/) are planning to come up and play. Brent says he’ll be bringing a guitarist or two from Charlotte. He plays bari and tenor sax, clarinet and bass clarinet. Seth plays drums.
July 21: Razor Wire Safety Net with Mike Salmon (whom you might know from Proof) who says he’ll be playing a baritone guitar or something.
Okay. Maybe I’ll see some of you folks here or there.
