If there is a tomorrow, we will conquer it and leave it bloody in our wake.
September 21, 2004 on 4:10 pm | In Happenings | No CommentsFriends, Romans, Countrymen,
Got a slight change of plan for the approaching Wednesday. So pay attention.
But first, a paraphrase from Bertrand Russell —
The word structure, important as it is, is a word for which those who use it (so far as we have seen) have no adequate definition.
As for non-Wednesday night events of which I am a colluder if not the primary impetus, please attend Henry’s (known in some circles as Fuse) in Chapel Hill on the eve of Sunday, Sept 26 for Mowing Lawns. We will play songs for you.
The serial listings for Bickett Wednesdays are as follows. (Each event contains the relation n+1 to its immediate predecessor where n is the immediate predecessor, and no event can have more than one immediate successor.)
Sept 22: Razor Wire Safety Net + John Hubbard
NO JAY WINFREY TONIGHT. Sorry. He’ll be here in a month or so. Mr Hubbard will be playing alto and tenor sax. Mr Donohoe will be on drums. Mr Thurston will be on basses. Mr Slowfeet will be on horns and guitar.
Sept 29: The Numen
So far we’ve got Carrie Shull on oboe; David Morris on tuba; Amy Wilkinson on clarinet; John Heitzenrater on bassoon; Slowfeat Bob on bass clarinet. Possible other attendees.
Oct 6: RazWirSafNet + Merlin
Merlin will be scratching and suchlike. Razor Wire will be Christopher Thurston on basses, Slowfeet Bob on horns/guit and an as yet unnamed sub for Brian Donohoe.
Oct 13
So far we’ve got Hal Hammond on tenor sax and Neil Vendrick on sample recodifying.
I gotta stop doing these when I’m ready to split work. I don’t have enough time to conjure witty closing lines.
Well okay, how about: Negativity means never having to say “I give a fuck.”

harmonic divergence
September 7, 2004 on 4:13 pm | In Happenings | No CommentsMy excellent good friends:
‘Twould seem we have another day of insensate sonological conjurings due to traverse our intersecting planes of immanescence. Or emanescence, or some such keenly suggestive vagary.
All harmonic divergences will occur with an approximate temporal vanishing point of Atomic Time Central (ATC) 10 pm, EST. Nominal location: Bickett Gallery, with cosmic excursions to places elsewhere both molecular and molar.
September 8: Razor Wire Safety Net + Clark Aflague
Regular Razor Wire bassist Christopher Thurston will be transubstantiated into Bob Jaffe (aka Mike Salmon) for this partickular deformance. Brian Donohoe on drums. Browbeetle Bob on sax, clarinet, guitar. Clark A on tenor sax.
September 15: Done With Judgment
Mothlight and Nicky Band boys Nick Whitley (also of Cherry Valence) and Daniel Vaughn are thinking about stopping by to make some sounds, probably on drums and keys/guitar, respectively. Also Rick Lassiter on double bass. You might know him from a former incarnation of the Tyson Rogers quartet or from Zone Rangers. Browbeat Bob will join in.

September 29: The Numen
It’s gonna be a woodwind heavy evening with John Heitzenrater on bassoon (you might recognize him from The Logic of Delirium), Carrie Shull on oboe (toured with the Euge off and on; also a member of Pulsoptional and the late Micro East Collective and stuff), Amy Wilkinson on clarinet (of Bringerer and formerly Spatula and Micro East), myselves primarily on bass clarinet, and I think I’ll ask Dan Partridge (from Haptickle Optrickery and GoatThrower) to join on singing saw. And maybe David Morris (from Micro East and Defenestrator) on tuba to round out the sound.
October 6: Razor Wire Safety Net + Merlin
Probably the regular Razor Net crew with Merlin on turntables. He’s the guy who spins all that great old funk at Lizzie’s. But I think he’s going to mostly scratch and go loco with us.
Under the gun, now and forever.
