A minute clicking of little wheels

June 24, 2007 on 10:58 am | In Happenings | No Comments

So I’m sitting next to a stranger at the train station and he goes, “Train’s late today.” And I go, “I got time.” And he goes, “Time’s something folks only have if the trains run on time. That’s why they got them time zones.” And so I go, “What are you like some kinda freaked out Quentin-Compson-type guy who runs around breaking antique watches?” And he goes, “Just killin’ time at the train station.”

Tonight, Sunday, 3034 Farrior St, Raleigh, 9 pm: Savage Knights with Eastern Seaboard and Boyzone.
House show. Jazz and noise.

Wednesday, July 4, Nightlight, Chapel Hill, 9:30: Craig Hilton & Crowmeat Bob w/In the Year of the Pig, Inspector 22 and the Bramble Ramblers, Yellow Crystal Star, and Black History Moth.
This is fixin’ up to be quite a representin’. A perpetuatin’, that is, of jingoistic values, by way of self-destructive free-style behavior patterns.

Civilian Casualties

June 15, 2007 on 10:55 am | In Happenings | No Comments

We forge ahead, exonerated but no nearer innocence — Patty Hearsts of shirked culpability — to be entwined in the traps we have lain for ourselves as preconscious penitence. Brainwashers brainwashed in the fire hydrants of civic-mindedness.

Monday, June 18, 1304 Flint Place, Raleigh, 8 pm: Savage Knights.
House show. Not sure with whom we’ll be preforming on this occasion. A couple of noiseniks, I’m given to understand. I reckon we’ll be playing 2nd or 3rd, depending on how many acts.
myspace.com/savageknights - there’s some videos here.
(also, there’s some samples at retroactivedynamics.com under the “Psych warfare” tab).

Sunday, June 24, 3034 Farrior St., Raleigh, 10 pm? or so: Savage Knights with Eastern Seaboard and BoyZone.
Another house show. You will enjoy.

Wednesday, July 4, Nightlight, Chapel Hill: Craig Hilton & Crowmeat Bob with In the Year of the Pig, Inspector 22 and the Bramble Ramblers, Yellow Crystal Star, and Black History Moth.
Don’t know what time the whole thing starts, but I believe Quilty and I will go on early. He’ll be mixing and maligning mostly orchestral samples on his laptop and I’ll be playing reeds along with.
myspace.com/intheyearofthepig — they fucking rock.
Inspector 22 — dark, rickety folk with Todd Emmert.
myspace.com/yellowcrystalstar — electro-creepbient.
myspace.com/blackhistorymoth — erosion drone.

Polyphonic Perversity
Beginning this Sunday, I’ll be spinning ultra-mod orchestral and chamber type music from noon to 2 pm (EST) every Sunday on WXDU(.org). You can listen online after church.
And still doing every other Thursday jazz from 6-8 pm. The next one’s the 21st. On July 5th, I’ll be caught up in the 24-hour afro-beat marathon, so I’ll play lots of Fela Kuti and Ethiopiques.

Regime of Disciplinarity

June 2, 2007 on 7:59 am | In Happenings | No Comments

Your humble friend and liaison has been woefully neglectful in his duties as informer, educator and perception manager. In an auto-reformatory effort, I have implemented a regime of strict discipline in all of my daily goings-about, to be officially launched with a radio show from 7-8 pm tomorrow, Sunday the 3rd, on the subject of Power. Featuring songs about power, domination, submission and disciplinary tactics in general. WXDU(.org) Enjoy. Do it.
Also, tune in to my jazz show, “On the Corner,” bi-weekly Thursdays (in alternation with my doppelganger, Andy), the next one being this coming Thursday.
And on the 17th, beginning a new show of modern composition/classical type music from noon to 2 every Sunday, “Polyphonic Perversity.”
Thank you for submitting.
