way down west where the plover flies free

As you wander along that lonesome road don’t forget to take the time to spill a few drops of blood over all those lost ceramic cereal mascots, so painstakingly collected and displayed once upon a time, and yawn in certitude that the way west is bound to be littered with bionic bigfoots. We who’ve never known the pleasure of conspiracy will have to settle for the intricacies of banality.

Tonight, Monday, Aug 25, Fuse, 11:00: Tone Pham & friends.
I’ll be bringing some horns along to improvise with Tone and who knows who else. He usually accrues a bang-up tight rhythm section, though, so you can tap your toe.

Friday, September 5, Local 506: Pine State with Butch Dogwood and the Public Good.
Another Cy benefit. This time it’s personal.
Punktry counts Pine State reuniting after ten and some-odd years. They needed a replacement slide guitar player, but they couldn’t get one so I’ll do it.

Dear Workers:
Retirement accounts have been henceforth Nationalized by the secessionist Free Work Zone of Retroactive Dynamics, Inc., and will be duly distributed in a fair manner by the Chief Executive General in His Infinite Wisdom. Thank you for your attention.

Thursday, August 21, CCB Plaza, Durham, 5:25 pm, Free: Savage Knights with the Future Kings of Nowhere.
Come mill about in an Antonioni-esque emotional vacuum in the stark industrial landscape.
CCB is a subsidiary of SunTrust.
Savage Knights is a subsidiary of Blue Coal. — myspace.com/savageknights
Future Kings of Nowhere is a subsidiary of Erewhon. — myspace.com/thefuturekings

Saturday, August 23, Nightlight, Chapel Hill, 8:30 pm, donation $5 to $5000 suggested: Cy Rawls benefit time: Crowmeat Bob, Inspector 22, Clang Quartet, Roxann Spikula, Yohimbe, USA Baby, Secret Boyfriend.
When I did a weekly Death Jazz series at Bickett Gallery Cy almost rivaled Steve Burnett’s attendance record. I think breakdancin’ Jay came in third.

Look for me possibly joining in on the Pine State reunion show in a couple of weeks. Even though my only knowledge of them is through whispered legend. And now Youtube videos.
