February 16, 2010 on 5:17 pm | In Happenings | No CommentsNo time like the present to show whose side you’re on. So bribe whatever officials you need to so’s you can get out to where you ought to be:
Wednesday, February 17, Nightlight, Chapel Hill, 9:30: Crowmeat Bob and Chris Eubank with Jason Ajemian and Seven 15.
Jason Ajemian will be performing solo and then be joined by locals for a performance of his Who Cares How Long You Sink. Me and Chris Eubank will be improvising a duet of some variety. And I’m not sure what Seven 15 is about. I believe they’re improvisers.
More on Jason (from Electric Possible and Outmusiks):
Jason Ajemian–(b. 1976) has become one of the most in-demand bassists on the Downtown scene since his relocation from Chicago in 2006. His discography includes recordings as a leader for 482-Music (as Daydream Full Lifestyles with Rob Mazurek, Tony Malaby, Chad Taylor) and Delmark (with Nori Tanaka, Jason Adasiewicz, Tim Haldeman, Jamie Branch). Jason has also recorded and performed as a member of the Chicago Underground Trio (Delmark), the Expoding Star Orchestra with Bill Dixon (Thrill Jockey), Charles Rumback Quartet (CleanFeed), Hush Arbors (Ecstatic Peace), Triage (with Dave Rempis, Tim Daisy), Dragons 1976 (with Aram Shelton, Tim Daisy), and in duo with Matt Bauder (Locust). Current projects include Marc Ribot’s Sun Ship Quartet, Matt Bauder’s Day in Pictures, Daydream Full Lifestyles, various Chicago Underground configurations, and Jason Ajemian’s High Life.
Watch for New Romans at Broad St on Feb 27 and Tatsuya Nakatani with Nervous Creep and Microcephalic Superintendent in the Triangle on March 23 and 24.
Oh, by the way, I’ve put up some more stuff under the Psych Warfare Transmissions tab.

We Will Dismember It For You Wholesale
February 10, 2010 on 11:46 am | In Happenings | No CommentsTesla looked at the sky and saw a wheel within a wheel, and the technocracy dusted him aside and proceeded with its designs.
Our inconstant memories inure us to these injustices, just as they shield us from our own past humiliations and protect us from knowledge of future atrocities.
So here’s a reminder of atrocities to come:
February 11, Museum of Life & Science, Durham, 7 pm, $18 members, $20 non-members: D Town Brass
http://www.ncmls.org/visit/events
Fundraiser for the museum. Wine tasting event. Big bad brass.
February 11, 112 Hanna St, Carrboro, 9:30: Microcephalic Superintendent with ID M THEFT ABLE and Kevin Eugene Clark.
Microcephalic Superintendent is Todd Hershberger - bassoon; Carrie Shull - oboe, english horn; Dan Ruccia - viola; Crowmeat Bob - reeds. We’ll be throwing down an improvised set.
ID M THEFT ABLE blew some minds with his extraordinary vocal technique a spell back at High Zero. Mine included. I’m sure he will do the same here.
Kevin Clark has some stuff on vimeo.
February 12, Volume 11, Raleigh, 9:00: Kolyma with Torpor and Zamine.
Whatever Will to Live that you have left, we will feed it, fatten it, and slaughter it.
Zamine is a brand new band. Torpor is pretty new.
